Dewey llama la atención a una lectora que está en la biblioteca con un móvil:
Dewey: - Tendrá que contestar su llamada fuera.
Reader: - Sólo estoy escuchando mis mensajes.
Voz: - Marge, soy yo, Blanche. ¡Quería contarte todo lo de mi cita!
Dewey: - ¿Puede, al menos, apagar el altavoz?
Reader: - No sé cómo.
Voz: - En primer lugar, ¡vamos a hablar de saliva!

you’ll have to take your phone outside to make a call = tendrá que llevarse su teléfono fuera si quiere hacer una llamada.

it’s me = soy yo. En español “it’s me” (= ello es yo) nos suena raro cuando se habla por teléfono. Por ello tendremos que memorizarlo a fondo para que nos salga espontáneamente, sin pensar.
Cuando llamamos a alguien tenemos que presentarnos diciendo: This is (no podemos decir “I am”)
Hi, this is me = Hola, soy yo
- Who is it? - It’s me = - ¿Quién es? - Soy yo.
- Who is it? - It’s Elaine = - ¿Quién es? - Soy Elaine.
let’s talk saliva! = interpretamos que el chico con el que salió Blanche hacía algo raro con la saliva. Esta tira de comic quiere mostrar lo desagradable que puede ser escuchar una conversación ajena.
Para terminar, oigamos el inicio de una llamada telefónica:
ring-ring, ring-ring, ring-ring…
-Hello?
-Hi, Elaine. It’s Tomàs, can I speak to Josep?
-Sure. He always takes your calls, so I’ll just transfer you in.
