Un lector ya entrado en años se queja de que una tecla del ordenador de la biblioteca esté pegajosa:

Usuario mayor: -La tecla de mayúsculas se pega.
Dewey: -Hay dos [teclas de mayúsculas]
Usuario mayor: -¡Pero así sólo puedo teclear la mitad de rápido!
Dewey: -¡Guinness estará tan decepcionado…! [Pues vaya desilusión para los del libro de records Guinness]

VOCABULARIO

aged = viejo

to stick = pegar con cola (glue) / atascarse, bloquearse
to stick together = llegar a un punto de entendimiento, estar junto a (u opinar igual que) otra persona
we’ll stick together through thick and thin = estaremos juntos para lo bueno y lo malo
we didn’t stick together in the meeting, and the results were disastrous = no estuvimos de acuerdo en la reunión y los resultados fueron desastrosos
sticking = pegándose
sticky = pegajoso
hockey stick = palo de jugar a hockey; broomstick = palo de escoba

half as fast = la mitad de rápido

to disappoint = decepcionar

   Hello! I am a subscriber to IWETEL and enjoy your Quotes and Jokes mail every week. I just wanted to point out a possible mistake I’ve noticed in your translation of Dewey’s strip this week. “The shift key is sticking” = La tecla de mayúsculas se pega. I looked up the meaning of “stick” in the dictionary and one of the meanings is: “(of mechanism etc) bloquearse, trabarse, no poder moverse” (Collins Spanish-English English-Spanish Dictionary. - Barcelona: Grijalbo, 1980). Don’t you think this meaning goes best with the situation in the strip? Thanks a lot for your contributions in making the Iwetel list funnier every Friday! Best wishes.
