to cut off [cát óf] (somebody) = dejar aislado, abandonado (a alguien) (coloquial)
hopeless [hóuples] = sin esperanza, sin remedio, irrecuperable
illiterate [ilítarat] = analfabeto
techno-illiterate = analfabeto tecnológico
to be entitled [intáit(a)ld] (to something) = tener derecho (a algo). (Literalmente sería “tener título para …”)
enough [ináf] (of something) = suficiente (de algo)
virus [váiras] = virus, por ejemplo informà tico
one’s best = lo mejor de uno, lo mejor que uno puede
Fijémonos en la frase They do their best so I do mine
(Literalmente sería algo como “Ellos hacen su mejor, así que yo hago lo mío”,
que hemos traducido por “Lo hacen lo mejor que pueden, así que yo también.”).
thought [zót] = pasado y participio pasado de think [zínk] = pensar.
Recordemos algunos verbos irregulares bastante frecuentes con formas
parecidas, todos estos riman en [ót]:
bring, brought = traer
buy, bought = comprar
fight, fought = luchar
catch, caught = agarrar
teach, taught = enseñar
to get (something) back = recuperar
to get back = volver
